1. Introduction
SAP provides the tools SAPSPrint and SAPPDFPrint in addition to the built-in front-end print technology of SAP GUI for printing.
SAPSprint can be used for server-based printing and SAPDFPrint can be used to convert ADS (Adobe Document Services) PDF files (formerly: IFbA - Interactive Forms by Adobe) into printer-independent data stream.
However, it has happened a few times in the past that some components of SAPSPrint, SAPPDFPrint and SAP GUI couldn't work together.
Aside from documents like SAP Note #1822381 and SAP KBA #2035550 there isn't a new document which would follow the versioning of these programs.
This document intends to help on that.
2. How to read
The main part of this document consists of three tables: one for the SAPWIN.dll version of SAP GUI (the most important part for front-end printing), and versions of SAPSPrint and SAPPDFPrint.
These tables will mostly hold just version information, which can be used for trouble-shooting / support purposes. If incompatible versions will be known, they will be noted in both affected tables.
For example: it SAPGUI patch ABC is not compatible with SAPPDFPrint version XYZ, it will be noted both in the SAP GUI table and the SAPPDFPrint table.
Please note that these tables only focus on versions 740 (and some "legacy" versions from 730), because the end of support for 730 will come soon.
3. Some more information
- This document will be constantly updated with the new versions. Please give some time until everything can be documented.
- The 64-bit version of SAPPDFPrint is only compatible with the 64-bit version of SAPSPrint. The reason is described in SAP Note #1909193: only 32-bit version of SAP GUI exists, therefore the 64-bit version of SAPPDFPrint and the 32-bit version of SAP GUI can not work together.
- The 32-bit SAPPDFPrint might have different versions in SAPSPrint in SAP GUI, therefore it will be separated in two tables.
