The platform-independent component for printing SAP forms and documents

The SAP output management system formats SAP documents and passes them to the host output system for printing. It handles printing forms and lists and offers some special functions, like barcode and OCR printing. The user can manage all of his output out of the SAP System and does not have to bother with print processing at the operating system level. Processing and administration of print and output requests, and administration of output devices and device types are major tasks of the SAP output management system as well.

 

 

User-friendly Printing

Unicode Printing

Printing in Unicode SAP systems is possible on all printers, that are supported by non-Unicode SAP systems as well. However, the output is limited to the character sets of the printers. Using UTF-8 -based printers provided by Lexmark or HP enables printing all languages with a single printer at high speed.

 

Print Options

Have you ever wanted to use a different paper tray when creating an output request? Or print double-sided in order to save paper? Or switch color, activate draft mode? The dialogues to create output requests for SAPscript forms and SAP Smart Forms offer you such choices. Read more... The device types which can make use of these options are currently being built (see SAP Note 1049778).

Easy Printer Administration

Printing Assistant for Landscapes (PAL)

The Printing Assistant for Landscapes is an enhancement of the conventional SAP print capabilities which enables you to configure all printer definitions centrally and distribute them within your system landscape. Without PAL each physical printer must be defined and managed in each system separately, which is a time-consuming process and also prone to errors due to configuration inconsistencies. Device Type Selection Wizard

SAP Printing has introduced the Device Type Selection Wizard to simplify the procedure when it comes to choosing the applicable device type a new output device. The Device Type Selection Wizard is a tool, accessible via button from transaction SPAD, which shows the relation between an actual printer model and the appropriate device type. Simply select the printer manufacturer's name and you will receive a list of valid printer model/device type combinations to choose from.

 

SAP Note 1036961 describes technical details and release-specific requirements. You can download a short User Guide and two lists of printer model/device type combinations available from the Wizard:

1. All printer model/device type combinations

2. Only combinations with device types which support Japanese Language

 

Note that both lists are subject to regular changes.

Email to customer, transmission medium 5 (external send)

SAP has provided transmission medium 5 (external send) to send an email with PDF (for example, of invoice printout) to customer.

Requirement: During billing document creation; In customer master, there are 5 email addresses but the email should be sent only to 2 of these. Is this possible with standard SAP solution of external send?

 

I am thinking of using Notes (ADRT-REMARK) to differentiate the relevant email addresses (2) from all those maintained (5) in the customer master.

Problem with countinuous paper printing in dot matrix printer

Hi All,

  I have problem with dot matrix printer (Devise Type EPESCP) while printing continuos printing. If  i am printing 2 or more than that prints at a time, 2nd page is printing 5 lines up.

 

I have developed one smartform for this and i have used A4 size page format.

 

I have tried to change the Printer initialization code to 86 lines for DINA4.  Still no change in continuous printing.

Printing smartforms on Dot Matrix Printer

Hi ,

 

I am supposed to print a smartform through a dotmatrix printer and the page has a fixed layout. Now, after i create a spool request and give a print command for more than 1 page , i see that the 1st page is printed perfectly . When it goes to 2nd page, it skips some portion and then starts to print , 3rd is again perfect and with fourth again it skips. So every alternate page is giving issues. Any suggestions on this?

 

P.S. - I have created a template in my smartform and a custom page format which has dimensions same as that of the dot matrix printer page.

Dear Team,

 

We have developed 2D datamatrix code as per VDA4902V4 Label guidlines for my customer (ZF).

Now Development has completed but during testing my customer is asking tha Check digit is not correct.

Probelm with multiple copies printing using dot matrix printer

Hi All,

 

i am having the issue with dot matrix printer with the continuous paper printing.

In the first page the printing coming properly as per the SAP script layout design but in 2nd page the position of the prining data is moved up 5 lines.

i am using "EPESCP (EPSON ESC/P 24/48-pin printer)" Device type for the printer. in the device type printer initialization we have the below mentioned commands.

Formatting Error in Smartforms

Hi Experts,

 

My Requirement is to print a form when confirming Production order by co11n.Actually i have written code in userexit  EXIT_SAPMM07M_001,till date it has been triggering correctly(while posting).

Problem 1:

Now it is Triggering after calculating cost i.e after returning to initial screen.Tat too external breakpoint only stoppin and sy-tcode is iniital.

Problem 2:

When it runs through the Smartform generated fm , it is showin sy-subrc eq 1.When i debugged it further in call function ssfcomp_open and in it call RFCCONTROL ID CODE FIELD '?' is returning sy-subrc eq 1.

 

NOTE: Everythin works fine if i execute the code in report.

 

I have searched in forum for this sort but didnt get exact results .Have u ppl ever come across this problem.. Please some glimpse on it.

Hello everyone!

 

I'm new to SAP/ABAP and I try to build a SmartForm.

 

Everything would be ok, but <b>Associated type</b> is unknown in <b>SmartForm</b>

when defining variables in <b>Form Interface</b>. This type is used in printing program, but SF does not recognise it...

Reg: Water mark should be visible when using output type via external send

Dear All,

 

Currently we are facing one issue in the output management. For testing purpose in the Q system, When customer sending PO output type via print out to the vendor, he could see the water mark in the background which is the correct one.

 

But when he tries to send the same via external send, he could not see water mark. So vendor is supplying material to the customer.

This causes lot of issues.

 

Can anyone suggest how to include water mark in the background when PO output is send via external send? Do we need to get the help of ABAP team to fix this issue?

 

Has anyone has come across this issue?

I want to display terms and conditions in first page using SAP Script. This is conditional depending upon company code (Should be displayed only for few company codes). Is there any possibility with out changing driver program only using SAP Script commands?

 

This terms and conditions page should not be blank for company codes which are not required.

Unable to print to the correct tray.

Hi ,

 

We are trying to print Adobe list of a specific type to a printer (hp LaserJet 600 M602) from our ECC system. The requirement is that it should always print using Tray 4 and if the tray runs out of paper it should wait till paper is added to the tray and not pick up from another tray.  We modified the xdc file hppcl5c.xdc to add the following entry:-

 

We also added the following line to the xdc file:

<inputTrayDefinition name="Tray 4" trayType="A4" trayNumber="7"/>

 

But when the tray is set as tray with pre-printed paper, it takes ordinary paper from tray 5 or 3 or whichever is available. Is there anyway to set this to pick the pre-printed paper only?

 

From the information I have the printer is a PCL6, is there somewhere I can check and confirm if this is indeed PCL6? The device type in SPAD is HJL8000: HP Laserjet 8000 R4.5+ONLY!

Download a barcode as bitmap '.BMP' (new technology barcode)

Hi all, I have a problem. ;-}

 

I want to download an barcode bitmap into a .BMP file.

 

I have created a barcode in transaction /nse73 (new technology, independed of printer) .

I use the external procedure(renderbarcode) from modul pool SAPMSSCO to render the barcode.

This procedure provides the barcode in a bitmap like this

I want to convert and download this as an bitmap (.BMP). Do anyone know what to do with this internal bitmap to bring it in the right form ? Or do you have another idea to bring the barcode into an image format?

 

There is also a possibility to test the standard system barcode in transaction se73. The barcode bitmap will be converted there into the OTF format and then it will be displayed (PREVIEW) in a SMARFORM. I don't want the barcode in SMARTFORM but as a binary file like '.BMP' or with  other image extensions (JPEG, TIFF,...) !
